Timeout when creating subportals in DNN 4.09.03

I get time out issues when I try to create a child subportal using template I have exported from my site. The template is quite big as the site has nearly 1000 pages.
Is there anything I can do, I have changed the web config file and extended timeout etc but still no luck.
I have now large number of Portals that do not exist/work but are in the Portal List.

I am using dnn 4.09.03

Hi Jonathan

I had a problem like this and here is my solution.


1. Export your old portal as a template (including files etc)

2. Create new portal uing default template (this should work no problem)

3. In new Portal go to site wizard and use the template you created previously to create new site.
