Accessing DNN site via IP address

We have an internal  DNN site up set-up and we've changed the portal alias so that we can access it by name. What we would also like to do is be able to access it by IP address. We tried putting the IP into the portalalias table but that did not work. The site itself has its own IP address so any help would be appreciated.

Hi, you would need to provide a bit more details regarding your network and server set up.  Is the site going to be accesible from the outside or just within the intranet ?
